The Rio Grande Valley Bank & Trust Bldg. at 115 N. Mesa Street was erected in 1909-10 by the iconic architectural firm Trost & Trost. The edifice was renamed the "Two Republics Life Bldg." in 1913, and then the "American Trust & Savings Bank."
